Ms. Anderson specializes in consumer class actions and a variety of employment matters, including wage and hour, family medical leave, Title VII discrimination and retaliation, severance and employment contract disputes. Presently, Ms. Anderson’s consumer practice focuses on deceptive practices prevalent in the banking, mortgage lending and insurance industries. Ms. Anderson also has litigated a diverse array of consumer class actions concerning defective products, including electronics and automobiles, health care, and securities.

Ms. Anderson represented two of the named plaintiffs in this consumer class action. The 2011 settlement valued at over

$2 million provided an extended 90-day service enhancement for class members with expired warranties, a free motherboard replacement, and full reimbursement to class members who paid for repairs to their HP computers to remedy “blue screen” or “lock up” failures.

In 2011, Ms. Anderson and her law partner, Ms. Stewart, obtained a $400,000 jury verdict in favor of the plaintiff. The case later settled out of court for $600,000.

Consumer Class Action

RESPA and New York General Business Law § 349 violations.

Cohen v. JP Morgan Chase, 04-cv-4098 (ILG)(E.D.N.Y.)

Ms. Anderson represented the lead plaintiff in this consumer class action concerning junk fees on mortgage statements. In 2010, a settlement fund valued at approximately $20 million provided relief for up to 50,000 homeowners.

Sebrow, et al. v. Allstate Insurance Co., 07 CV-3929 (FB) (E.D.N.Y.)

Ms. Anderson represented one of the lead plaintiffs in this consumer class action alleging the unlawful tying of insurance products. The 2008 settlement provided injunctive relief to a class comprised of over 54,000 homeowners.

Ms. Anderson represented the lead plaintiff in this class action brought on behalf of 163 members of a defunct health plan. The 2007 settlement valued at over $500,000 provided total payment of the outstanding medical bills and reimbursement of expenses on behalf of the class.
